My current career as professional adventurer began when I hiked the Appalachian Trail in 2004. Since then, I've been keeping up a regular regimen of adventures, including 800 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail in California the summer of 2005, followed by an abortive attempt to bike cross-country. (You can read my previous journals by clicking on the links below.) I decided to cast off for foreign shores in 2006, after finding a lovely sailboat, a Ranger 33, for sale. She was a pretty beat-up old gal, but I brought her back to life, and sailed all the way to Crooked Island, in the Bahamas. I had never sailed before, and the adventure was grand and a little terrifying. Now I'm recovering, my boat is for sale, still in the Bahamas, and I'm trying to decide what to cast off next.
