Beautiful Secret

This is Secret, our boat. The picture to the left was taken before we bought her, and before we did any work on her. She's now, happily, on the water, but I still love this picture.

Karl in the cockpit, on a gorgeous August day.

Secret in the water, the first day we docked her. Karl is busy pumping out the holding tank. Isn't she beautiful? With the glimmer off the water, you can't even see that her topsides are scuffed up.

When are you guys taking off now? I know Karl got the cranberry picking gig. Maybe we can try to come out and see you one more time.

Sophia is still sleeping. I will call you before too long.

I don't know you at all, but the story so far is pretty compelling. First question - how did you blog from the AT?

I didn't really--I journalled and someone transcribed my journals. It's a big thing on the AT. There were people who used something called PocketMail, though. It's a handheld device with a subscription service and you can send email through any phone line. It just makes old-fashioned modem noise into the handset of any phone. People use it sailing, too, evidently, and it's very popular overseas. Thanks for the compliment, though!
